Fisher's Overview

Fisher's Document Systems is the largest locally-owned document systems provider in Idaho and has a 70-year history of service to our community.  Fisher's provides solutions from Canon, Lanier (Ricoh), Hewlett Packard, DocuWare, eCopy, and several other market-leading software partners.

In addition to hardware solutions such as copiers, printers, scanners, and fax systems, Fisher's provides software solutions and professional services to streamline business processes and enterprise-wide document management challenges.

Fisher's has recently undergone some significant changes in its infrastructure, personnel, processes, and products and is experiencing dramatic growth as a result.  Highlights of this transformation include:

  • Significant investment in the Service Department to hire and train even more highly qualified technicians and arm all technicians and engineers with laptops, PDAs (for remote dispatch, equipment diagnosis, and parts ordering), technician vehicles, and large parts inventories.
  • New backend billing and customer database infrastructure systems allow Fisher's to accurately invoice clients and support service, accounting, and sales inquiries with real-time data.
  • Transparency of communication between Fisher's and its clients.  The copier industry is known for its shell game of profit pockets, onerous lease terms, and hidden costs.  To the contrary, Fisher's chooses to engage in a transparent, win-win partnership with its clients where all the variables are on the table to ensure that a relationship based on trust is achieved.
  • Industry expertise throughout the company enabling Fisher's sales team, service team, and executive team to add value not only to the selection of appropriate hardware and servicing options, but to understanding the business needs and business processes of its clients.
  • Technical innovation in complete business solutions, meaning that Fisher's not only provides market-leading hardware solutions, but Fisher's also offers software solutions and professional services to streamline business processes and document management.

Fisher's History

Fisher's Document Systems was founded in 1936 as Fisher's Office Equipment, an Underwood typewriter sales and service dealership located in downtown Boise.  Gary Mahn purchased the company in 1985 and grew the business into the largest office products company in the state.

Gary later sold Fisher's office supply division to Boise Cascade Office Products while maintaining ownership of the office equipment division.  Gary spent the subsequent ten years serving this community as the Director of the Department of Commerce for the State of Idaho and as the easiest man to win money from on the golf course... all while his business partners grew Fisher's Document Systems into the largest independent document systems company in the State of Idaho.

Through its 70-year heritage in Idaho, continued local ownership / operation, and significant transformation of the company over the last several years, Fisher's has developed the best customer service in our marketplace.  That, coupled with the fact that we offer the best products on the market, is driving significant growth and, more importantly, extremely satisfied customers.
